  • To build the swimmers endurance in both freestyle and backstroke.
  • Continue to refine the swimmers technique. Breaststroke is introduced.
  • Butterfly kick is introduced as a general movement.


  • Freestyle and backstroke kicking drills 100 metres (must be continuous).
  • Freestyle and backstroke with fins 100 metres (show good technique and maintained for required distance).
  • Freestyle and backstroke without fins 50 metres (hold good technique and performed in a slow relaxed style).
  • Breaststroke kick 25 metres (show ability to perform skill for the required distance).
  • Breaststroke 25 metres (co-ordinated and performed in a relaxed manner).
  • Butterfly kick (introduced).
