Piranha stage

Aims

  • To build on the swimmers, endurance in freestyle and backstroke while holding good technique.
  • To introduce a safety stroke lifesaving backstroke and perform it in a strong relaxed manner.
  • Breaststroke kick to be introduced as a general movement.

Skills

  • Freestyle kick 100 metres with fins
  • Freestyle kick 50 metres without fins
  • Backstroke kick 100 metres with fins
  • Backstroke kick 50 metres without fins
  • Freestyle – introduce alternate breathing
  • Freestyle 50 metres with fins (show good technique and performed in a slow and relaxed manner)
  • Freestyle 25 metres without fins (must hold reasonably good technique and performed in a slow relaxed manner)
  • Backstroke 50 metres with fins (must show good technique and performed in a relaxed manner)
  • Backstroke 25 metres without fins (must hold good technique and performed in a slow relaxed manner)
  • Breaststroke Kick – introduction to the basic movement
  • Lifesaving backstroke 25 metres (a safety stroke to be performed in a relaxed manner)
